Purple Energy Summer Smoothie

Purple Energy Summer Smoothie

This smoothie combines the flavours of the Amazon with summer and maca magic! Acai is considered one of the world's most potent superfruits. Here we mixed it with tart delicious kiwifruit and pineapple for a fresh summer delight.

Did you know it's actually good for you to eat the skin of certain fruits?

The kiwifruit skin is completely edible and makes this nutrient-dense fruit even more nutritious! A recent study shows that eating the skin triples the fibre intake compared to merely eating the flesh. And by not peeling the skin, you preserve much of the vitamin C content as well.

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole kiwifruit
  • small handful of frozen strawberries
  • 1 packet frozen acai pulp
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 1 cup coconut water

Blend ingredients together and enjoy this tropical refreshing infusion!

Makes one large serving

Combat Fatigue with the Spirulina Super Smoothie

Combat Fatigue with the Spirulina Super Smoothie

This super smoothie is super simple, super energized, and super pretty!

Spirulina contains extremely high levels of iron, which helps to combat fatigue. Iron intake leads to the production of hemoglobin, which binds to red blood cells. This promotes the circulation of oxygen in your blood, and thus providing more of that good stuff to your brain, helping you to think more clearly. Lack of hemoglobin requires the heart to work much harder in order to circulate oxygenated blood, which can lead to exhaustion.

Not only does spirulina provide an energizing boost to blood iron levels, but it also does so without constipation – a typical side effect of taking synthetic iron supplements.

When combined with the incredible benefits of maca powder, these two work together to pack a one-two punch to combat fatigue and get your brain literally working faster. Cinnamon comes in to help round out this incredibly nutritious smoothie, as it helps to lower blood sugar levels and reduces the risk of heart disease.

Some people may not like the taste of spirulina at first, but when mixed in the right smoothie recipe, it might even get you craving the chlorophyl-packed stuff! Cinnamon is a great way of doing this.

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 tsp spirulina
  • 1 tsp Connect Foods maca powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup non-dairy milk of your choice
  • handful of ice

Blend together and top with Connect Foods cacao nibs (optional)

Enjoy!

(makes one serving)
